Service Department Deficiency/Sales Estimator
Location: St Louis, MO
Position Type: Full Time
Overview: Boyer Fire Protection is seeking a Service Department Deficiency/Sales Estimator full-time in the service department located in St. Louis, MO to work closely with the inspectors/service sprinkler fitters and customers to coordinate, maintain, and facilitate estimates from inspections, service calls, code violations and special projects.

The Service Deficiency/Sales Estimator will report to the Service Manager and Inspection Manager as needed and will be responsible for identifying deficiencies from inspection reports, within existing customer accounts, that have been identified by field inspectors or other documentation. This role will also be responsible for promoting and selling products/services to correct these deficiencies while providing excellent customer service and completing turnovers in a timely manner. This position is accountable for sales goals and desired revenues. This role will also require great communication and organization skills on a day-to-day basis.
General Responsibilities

Develop general knowledge of fire protection codes, products, services and systems

Review inspection reports
-
Generate fire protection repair quotes for deficiencies found during inspections, service repairs and send to customer in a timely manner

Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs

Follow up with customers on open and unapproved repair estimates

Create and maintain an open line of communication and working relationships within the service department, service inspector/technicians and contracting department

Create work orders and project manage all approved quotes (I.e.; Job setups, generating purchase orders, parts ordering, scheduling and invoicing)

Provide exceptional customer service

Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the lowest prices for materials and devices

Meet or exceed the assigned sales quota on a consistent basis

Answer service-related calls

Triage customer priorities that come in to determine what orders need to take priority and need to be completed first

Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation

Perform other duties assigned by management

Attend Service Department meetings

Create and maintain customer files

Site walks as necessary for accurate quoting

Education Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid state issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- General knowledge of construction and fire sprinkler/alarm systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Efficiency with Microsoft Office (I.e.; Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- One to three years of sales experience in a related business
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able and willing to work within a team environment
- Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and sales skills

Senior Designer/Project Manager
Objective: Senior Designer / Project Manager reports directly to the V.P. of Design / Design Manager as well as the Estimating/Sales Department Manager (on projects involving project management) and is responsible for creating complete design drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic calculations, fabrication stocklists, and valve charts of fire sprinkler systems utilizing AutoCAD, REVIT, and Hydratec Sprinkler Software to prefabricate sprinkler pipe and seek approval of the authorities having jurisdiction. A Senior Designer / Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of all design layouts and communication with all project team members and Boyer Fire Protection project team members. They will assist the sales staff in providing and completing estimates and proposals for certain predetermined projects and will design and project manage those projects if acquired.
Key Responsibilities

Design and draft Fire Protection Systems in accordance with all applicable building codes and NFPA standards within the scope of the contract, while conforming piping arrangements to meet standard product or material usage as well as the most efficient installation, fabrication, and stock listing techniques.

Prepare hydraulic calculations and seismic calculations for all required projects.

Represent Boyer Fire Protection in matters of project coordination, scheduling, change requests, and technical assistance.

Obtain all necessary approvals and reviews of project design data.
-
Maintain organized records of active projects in which involved.
-
Prepare complete and correct stocklists to obtain material and fabrication quotes.
-
After a project is awarded to Boyer Fire Protection, participate in any turnover meetings, share information, and assist with any follow-up information with the customer as requested.

Take an active role in helping to manage the projects with the Project Managers and the Construction Superintendent.

Assemble for the Project Manager material, labor, fabrication, design, and any other costs required in a scope revision (change order).

Assist Estimating and other Design Personnel with technical interpretation as needs arise.

Assist in feasibility research of new product uses.

Prepare proper electronic correspondence (coordination, transmittals, confirmation e-mails, etc).

Prepare all required project completion forms including Valve Charts and Record Drawings.

Assist with estimating when asked to do so.

Assist with any direction given from V.P. of Design or Design Manager.

Meet with sales staff and V.P. of Design / Design Manager on a regular schedule to discuss current estimating backlog and due dates.

Seek out competitive vendors and services to assure that Boyer Fire Protection is competitive in their bids. This must be done on a priority basis to assure that due dates are met. Firm subcontractor quotations must be solicited for work not performed directly by Boyer Fire Protection.

Discuss design and bid strategy with sales staff and V.P. of Design / Design Manager.

If necessary, review the Bid Package with the Design and Construction Departments.

Perform preliminary design, preliminary calculation, and concepts for the bid estimate.

Pull together and price-out the material, labor, permits, fabrication, design, and any other costs required in a complete estimate.

Review the entire estimate with the sales staff.

Prepare a scope/quotation letter for the customer.
-
Perform timely follow-up on bids/quotations.

Assume an active role in designing and project managing your acquired projects.

Designer (Fire Sprinkler Layout Technician)
Objective: Designer reports directly to the V.P. of Design / Design Manager and is responsible for creating complete design drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic calculations, fabrication stocklists, and valve charts of fire sprinkler systems utilizing AutoCAD, REVIT, and Hydratec Sprinkler Software to prefabricate sprinkler pipe and seek approval of the authorities having jurisdiction. A Designer is responsible for coordination of all design layouts and communication with all project team members and Boyer Fire Protection project team members.

Objective: Design Technician Trainee reports directly to the V.P. of Design / Design Manager and is responsible for learning how to create design drawings of fire sprinkler systems utilizing AutoCAD, REVIT, and Hydratec Sprinkler Software.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare smaller stocklists to obtain material and fabrication quotes. Learn how to stocklist larger projects.

Service Coordinator
Location: St Louis, MO
Position Type: Full Time
Objective: Work closely with customers to coordinate, maintain, and facilitate inspections and service work.
We are looking for a fast learner who thrives in a fast pace environment. The Service Coordinator will report to the Service / Inspection Managers. Responsibilities will consist of scheduling, renewing inspection contracts, billing and working with National Accounts. This role will require great communication and organizational skills on a day-to-day basis, computer skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule annual and reoccurring inspections for Field Technicians by calling on current customers
- Handle multiple database platforms to set up new and reoccurring jobs and dispatch to Field Technicians
- Assist the service department with special projects assigned by the Service Department Managers and Sales Representatives
- Communicate daily with all the Service Team to ensure all tasks have been completed
- Assist creating price lists, quoting inspections and contract renewals
- Help manage inspection paperwork by filing with the proper authorities and clients
- Communicate with external Foreman, Servicemen and Apprentices when necessary
- Manage and coordinate monthly inspection scheduling
- Process bills for all work that has been completed
- Responds to correspondences and requests, outline specifics of inspections that need to be completed/or require follow up
- Request “Certificates of Insurance” from insurance carrier as needed
- Order applicable service tags, stickers, and miscellaneous materials through purchasing as needed
Qualifications
- Associates degree and interest in fire protection/ life safety desired
- Minimum of at least one year or relevant work experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, & Outlook) and Apple Products
- Professional/customer-focused interaction with customers, vendors and field technicians
- Exceptionally detail oriented and organized; ability to handle multiple projects
- Excellent time management skills
- Customer service experience is preferred
- Ability to work effectively in an office and team environment
- Ability to be flexible on a day-to-day basis when scheduling inspections/service appointments
669 Sprinkler Apprentice
Location: Southern Illinois
Position Type: Full Time
Objective: Define job description and responsibilities of the Sprinkler Apprentice for Boyer Fire Protection. Fire Sprinkler Fitters are pipefitting specialist working in the fire protection industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to install, repair and maintain all types of fire sprinkler systems, including fixed extinguishing systems and underground fire main piping.
- Responsible for installing and servicing a variety of other fire protection equipment such as fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, backflow preventers, fire department connection, foam systems and dry chemical systems.
- Travel the state of Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin to work on various locations/job sites; as necessary.
- Comply with union collective bargaining agreement .
- Respond timely to emails and phone calls.
- Keep the job site organized and efficient.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to handle multiple time sensitive projects or tasks efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers.
- Preform light fabrication; consisting of cutting, threading and grooving pipe.
- Operate a manlift and forklift.
Physical Demand: While in this position, the employee will regularly walk, stand for long periods of time, operate equipment, manlifts, lift heavy objects and tools (75 LBS), reach and climb ladders to reach objects.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Willing to become a member of UA Local 669 Road Sprinkler Fitters.
- Experience working with tools is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with piping materials and equipment is strongly preferred.
- No prior experience is required.
- Willing to climb ladders; with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work 40 hours per week.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment; with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Mechanical aptitude a plus.
- Available for possible overtime or emergency calls.
