Designer (Fire Sprinkler Layout Technician)

Overview: Designer reports directly to the V.P. of Design / Design Manager and is responsible for creating complete design drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic calculations, fabrication stocklists, and valve charts of fire sprinkler systems utilizing AutoCAD, REVIT, and Hydratec Sprinkler Software to prefabricate sprinkler pipe and seek approval of the authorities having jurisdiction. A Designer is responsible for coordination of all design layouts and communication with all project team members and Boyer Fire Protection project team members.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and draft Fire Protection Systems in accordance with all applicable building codes and NFPA standards within the scope of the contract, while conforming piping arrangements to meet standard product or material usage as well as the most efficient installation, fabrication, and stock listing techniques.

  • Prepare hydraulic calculations and seismic calculations for all required projects.

  • Represent Boyer Fire Protection in matters of project coordination, scheduling, change requests, and technical assistance.

  • Obtain all necessary approvals and reviews of project design data.

  • Maintain organized records of active projects in which involved.

  • Provide job-site/project surveys/field-checks as required for projects.

  • Prepare complete and correct stocklists to obtain material and fabrication quotes.

  • After a project is awarded to Boyer Fire Protection, participate in any turnover meetings, share information, and assist with any follow-up information with the customer as requested.

  • Attend any project meetings as requested.

  • Take an active role in helping to manage the projects with the Project Managers and the Construction Superintendent.

  • Assemble for the Project Manager material, labor, fabrication, design, and any other costs required in a scope revision (change order).

  • Assist Estimating and other Design Personnel with technical interpretation as needs arise.

  • Assist in feasibility research of new product uses if requested.

  • Prepare proper electronic correspondence (coordination, transmittals, confirmation e-mails, etc).

  • Prepare all required project completion forms including Valve Charts and Record Drawings.

  • Assist with estimating when asked to do so.

  • Assist with any direction given from V.P. of Design or Design Manager.

  • Other duties as required.

Life Safety Sales Representative

Objective: Life Safety Sales Representative plays a pivotal role in promoting and selling NFPA 25 Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) agreements and fire extinguishers, along with related services. This position is key to driving new business, overseeing project completions, and conducting specialized training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business for NFPA 25 ITM agreements with a focus on securing 3 to 5-year contracts.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to sell new fire extinguishers, including inspection, testing, and tagging services.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients such as building owners, property managers, and AHJs.
  • Engage in cold calling and in-person visits to present proposals and finalize contracts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of ITM proposals for new fire sprinkler installations by Boyer Fire Protection.
  • Manage comprehensive project closeouts, ensuring the verification of bar coding, signage, and compliance documentation.
  • Facilitate seamless transitions from project completion to ITM agreement initiation in coordination with the installation team.
  • Address client queries and concerns post-installation to guarantee satisfaction.
  • Design and deliver a minimum of 2 annual training sessions for stakeholders such as building owners, property managers, fire departments, and AHJs on fire protection essentials.
  • Prepare engaging training materials, including presentations and handouts, tailored to the audience.
  • Maintain meticulous records of training activities and participants for compliance and internal tracking.
  • Proactively follow up on service agreements and customer inquiries to ensure satisfaction and renewals.
  • Keep detailed records of all client interactions in the company’s CRM system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in fire protection or related industry
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams), Apple Products and CRM Software
  • Professional/customer-focused interaction with customers, vendors and field technicians
  • Exceptionally detail oriented and organized; ability to handle multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Project Manager

Location: St. Louis, MO

Objective: This position requires direct experience in general commercial construction and preferably in the fire sprinkler trade. The project manager will support the design constructability reviews, communicate the field operations and schedule to the general contractor, and support and troubleshoot installation issues and conflicts in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be proficient in reading commercial construction drawings and schedules.
  • Lead the contract administration and communication with the general contractor and authority
    having jurisdiction effort.
  • Review contracts, contract documents, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Be proficient in shop drawing review for quality and constructability concerns and work directly with
    the fire protection designers to support them.

  • Communicate and solve conflicts between MEP subcontractor trades in the field.

A Senior Designer / Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of all design layouts and communication with all project team members and Boyer Fire Protection project team members. They will assist the sales staff in providing and completing estimates and proposals for certain predetermined projects and will design and project manage those projects if acquired.

  • If necessary, review the Bid Package with the Design and Construction Departments.
  • Perform preliminary design, preliminary calculation, and concepts for the bid estimate.
  • Pull together and price-out the material, labor, permits, fabrication, design, and any other costs required in a complete estimate.
  • Review the entire estimate with the sales staff.
  • Prepare a scope/quotation letter for the customer.
  • Perform timely follow-up on bids/quotations.
  • Assume an active role in designing and project managing your acquired projects.

Service Department Deficiency/Sales Estimator

Overview: Boyer Fire Protection is seeking a Service Department Deficiency/Sales Estimator full-time in the service department located in St. Louis, MO to work closely with the inspectors/service sprinkler fitters and customers to coordinate, maintain, and facilitate estimates from inspections, service calls, code violations and special projects.

We’re looking for a fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The kind of person who is always trying to learn more, make an impact and continually strive to get things done. The Service Deficiency/Sales Estimator will report to the Service Manager and Inspection Manager as needed and will be responsible for identifying deficiencies from inspection reports, within existing customer accounts, that have been identified by field inspectors or other documentation. This role will also be responsible for promoting and selling products/services to correct these deficiencies while providing excellent customer service and completing turnovers in a timely manner. This position is accountable for sales goals and desired revenues. This role will also require great communication and organization skills on a day-to-day basis.

General Responsibilities 

  • Develop general knowledge of fire protection codes, products, services and systems

  • Review inspection reports

  • Generate fire protection repair quotes for deficiencies found during inspections, service repairs and send to customer in a timely manner

  • Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs

  • Follow up with customers on open and unapproved repair estimates

  • Create and maintain an open line of communication and working relationships within the service department, service inspector/technicians and contracting department

  • Create work orders and project manage all approved quotes (I.e.; Job setups, generating purchase orders, parts ordering, scheduling and invoicing)

  • Provide exceptional customer service

  • Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the lowest prices for materials and devices

  • Schedule annual and reoccurring inspections for Field Technicians by calling on current customers
  • Handle multiple database platforms to set up new and reoccurring jobs and dispatch to Field Technicians
  • Assist the service department with special projects assigned by the Service Department Managers and Sales Representatives
  • Communicate daily with all the Service Team to ensure all tasks have been completed
  • Assist creating price lists, quoting inspections and contract renewals
  • Help manage inspection paperwork by filing with the proper authorities and clients

The Sprinkler Fitter Foreman is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems and managing a team of fitters and apprentices.

Scope: Reports to the Superintendent or Branch Manager

The Sprinkler Fitter Foreman is responsible for all items listed below, in addition to supervising and coordinating activities of the Sprinkler Fitter team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of fire sprinkler systems, including fixed extinguishing systems and underground fire main piping.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work activities while ensuring compliance with all safety and code requirements.
  • Conduct on-site training and mentorship for apprentices and junior fitters.
  • Manage inventory of materials and equipment, ensuring adequate supplies for project completion.

In addition to the physical demands listed above, the Sprinkler Fitter Foreman will frequently engage in managerial and supervisory tasks which require effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Requirements:
