Exciting new project completed at Brightside Daycare in Damiensville, IL! As the fire sprinkler contractor on this build, we’ve installed a fire protection system covering approximately 12,000 square feet.

We installed a single dry system protecting the combustible attic space and a single wet system safeguarding the first floor, the concealed space between floors, and the basement. With around 150 sprinklers throughout the facility, we’re proud to ensure that safety is built into every corner of this new daycare.

Covering approximately 34,000 square feet, this project involves an extension of the existing wet pipe sprinkler system into some areas of the building that are currently unprotected.

The design and installation processes were especially challenging for our team as we needed to keep the piping aesthetically pleasing where it’s exposed, all while working in confining areas due to the existing conditions. This didn’t stop Boyer Fire Protection from showcasing our expertise when it comes to delivering top-notch fire protection solutions tailored to each unique environment!

Working with S.M. Wilson as the fire sprinkler contractor on this project, covering approximately 420,000 square feet, Francis Howell North High School stands at 3 stories. We installed sprinkler system(s) in the new school with a fire pump, 9 standpipes and +3,300 sprinkler heads. This totals out to 13 new wet systems per NFPA 13!

Boyer Fire Protection was the fire sprinkler contractor on this project, contracted with the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture. Starting in May of 2022 with the final contract closeout accepted in May of 2024, we are very proud of our team in Southern, Illinois. They showed their expertise on this difficult and complicated project at all levels from design, to field, to project managing.

The scope was to remove thousands of feed of their existing deteriorating sprinkler systems in the Million Dollar Horse Barn and Grandstand and replace them with completely new systems. These systems were in such disrepair that they had been out of service for several years. Our team also completed another installation of a new sprinkler system in the once un-sprinklered Stage Building, which included a new underground water supply.

Anthony, our experienced senior project designer, provided new ‘designed from the ground up’ sprinkler drawings and hydraulic calculations for all three buildings. The approximate number of new sprinkler heads our Southern Illinois sprinkler fitters installed was 1,150 across the three buildings.

Spanning across three buildings, covering approximately 80,450 square feet, this challenging project shows our commitment to excellence. All exposed sprinkler pipe you see in some photos (right) had to be painted.

The installation of fire sprinklers in venue spaces as well as animal housing is crucial in providing immediate and targeted fire suppression, mitigating fire spread, and safeguarding lives and property. These systems not only enhance safety but also provide occupants with valuable time to evacuate safely during emergencies. Visitors can feel at ease knowing they are protected by these essential safety measures.

In collaboration with KAI Enterprises, the Urban League Senior Living Center project is complete. By installing a new automatic wet sprinkler system across approximately 41,600 square feet, this system serves 44 units, with around 310 primarily residential, semi-recessed, and horizontal sidewall pendents installed in compliance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 13R standards.

As a 3-story wood frame structure, this facility is more vulnerable to rapid fire spread than buildings made of non-combustible materials. Fire sprinklers can quickly suppress a fire, limiting its growth, reducing the risk of widespread damage, and providing an extra layer of protection that gives residents more time to evacuate safely.
