Celebrating Women In Construction Week

Celebrating Women in Construction Week

The construction industry has long been a male-dominated field, but women have played a crucial role in its success for decades as builders, leaders, innovators, and advocates for progress. Each year, Women in Construction (WIC) Week shines a spotlight on the contributions of women in the industry while encouraging future generations to explore careers in construction.

As a fire sprinkler contractor, Boyer Fire Protection is proud to recognize the women who help shape our company and the construction industry.

The History of Women in Construction Week

WIC Week was founded in 1998 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) to celebrate and promote the role of women in construction. Since then, it has grown into a nationwide movement, with companies, organizations, and trade associations coming together to recognize women’s contributions, highlight career opportunities, and encourage industry-wide diversity.

With women making up only about 11% of the total construction workforce, WIC Week remains an important initiative to drive awareness, advocacy, and mentorship.

What WIC Week Represents Today

Today, WIC Week is more than just a celebration. It’s a call to action. Each year, the week features networking opportunities, educational panels, job site tours, and mentorship programs aimed at supporting and encouraging women in construction.

This year’s theme, “Together We Rise, emphasizes the importance of collaboration, mentorship, and breaking down barriers for women in construction. Whether in leadership roles, project management, engineering, or skilled trades, women are shaping the future of the industry by leading the way in safety, innovation, and workforce development.

How WIC Week Continues to Make an Impact

This week not only recognizes the achievements of women already in the industry but also works to bring more women into construction careers. Organizations like NAWIC, AGC, and other industry groups provide resources, networking opportunities, and training programs to help women succeed.

We believe that supporting women in construction isn’t just about recognition, it’s about action. We are proud to have women in ownership, leadership, management, coordination, estimating, and the field, and we continue to foster an environment where women can thrive in every aspect of the fire protection industry.

As more women enter the construction industry, the landscape continues to evolve. WIC Week plays a key role in inspiring the next generation by showcasing success stories, mentorship opportunities, and career pathways.

At Boyer Fire Protection, we celebrate the women making an impact today while advocating for even greater opportunities in the future.
