Artificial Intelligence in the Construction Industry

Artificial Intelligence in the Construction Industry

Back in April, we explored how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming construction and fire protection by streamlining workflows, improving safety, and supporting smarter decision-making. We discussed how AI was already enhancing system design, project planning, jobsite safety, inspection analytics, and fire detection. New AI tools in the construction industry like ALICE Plan, Archistar, and SALUS Safety Assistant were beginning to make an impact, and just a few months later, those advancements have only accelerated and reshaped the approach to construction.

Saving Time in Planning & Scheduling

AI tools help project managers create more accurate schedules and resource plans. By analyzing real-time data and historical trends, AI can identify potential delays or bottlenecks before they happen.

AI Tools Used:

    • ALICE Plan – Visualizes scheduling data over 2D site plans for better coordination.
    • Archistar Permit Assistant – Automates code compliance checks during the design phase to streamline permitting.

Site Safety

AI-powered cameras and monitoring systems can detect when safety protocols aren’t being followed, whether it’s a missing hardhat, a blocked exit, or unsafe equipment use. These tools help prevent accidents before they occur and maintain their safety standards, no matter how tight the project schedule is.

AI Tools Used:

    • SALUS Safety Assistant – Generates site-specific safety plans, toolbox talks, and risk assessments on demand.
    • Predictive Safety Analytics – Analyzes historical jobsite data to anticipate high-risk situations and prevent incidents before they occur.
    • Betty – A smart assistant that provides instant answers about safety procedures, building codes, and technical requirements directly to jobsite teams.

 Progress Tracking

New platforms are using AI and image recognition to compare current site progress to original building plans. This keeps teams informed and on schedule without relying on manual updates.

AI Tools Used:

    • OpenSpace – Captures 360° site imagery and uses AI to align images with project plans, track progress, and generate visual documentation for stakeholders.

AI’s Role in Fire Protection

AI is also making its way into the fire protection world, not to replace experts in the industry, but to assist them in making smarter, faster decisions.

System Design Automation
Certain platforms now use AI to help lay out sprinkler systems, check for code compliance, and flag design inconsistencies. What took hours of manual review can now happen in minutes.

Fire Risk Modeling
AI tools are beginning to simulate fire and smoke behavior within a building. These predictive models help optimize system layout and detect risk zones early in the design process.

Inspection & Maintenance
AI is being used to analyze inspection reports, service records, and equipment trends to predict system failures, allowing for proactive, targeted maintenance and flagging early signs of poor performance to ensure timely upkeep of fire protection systems.

Early Detection Systems
Smart detection systems powered by AI can distinguish between steam, smoke, and real flames, reducing false alarms and enabling faster response.

What This Means for Boyer Fire Protection

Whether it’s enhancing inspections, simplifying code compliance, or helping teams respond faster to on-site needs, AI is allowing us to work smarter, faster, and safer.

At Boyer Fire Protection, we’re continuing to evaluate and adopt the right tools to serve our customers and protect what matters most.
